About The Diversity Initiative

Responding to an increase in the number of suspected racially motivated attacks in Ukraine beginning in December 2006, International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Amnesty International (AI) and other concerned civil society organizations formed the Diversity Initiative network in April 2007 to begin addressing the issue in a coordinated way.

Open Call Digital Storytelling Workshop JULY2016 ActiveYOUkraine

You are actively committed to Ukrainian society? You want to share your visions and ideas? And you want to learn more about Digital Storytelling? 

Be part of Active YOUkraine!

We offer three-day workshops in Berlin, Germany and Kiev, Ukraine in May at the following dates:

Kiev, Ukraine:               15 July – 17 July 2016

Workshops are free of charge for participants. Working languages during the workshop are English and Russian. For their Digital Stories the participants are free to choose the language they feel most comfortable with; English subtitles will be provided.



The participants will have a platform to reflect on their activism, their motivation, the challenges they face on the way, and the goals they have already reached. In order to initiate social dialogue, they are free to promote their ideas in a creative way. At the end of the workshop their Digital Stories will be published on this blog.

Topics of the Digital Stories could be:

  • personal experiences and setbacks which inspired the participants to engage themselves socially
  • challenges the activists had to face during their engagement in Ukraine and/ or Germany
